Leaving me with only roughly if not less than $35 that I saved in processing fees.

If a customer comes in and buys $1000 worth of merchandise from me, Square takes 3.5% plus $. But the email said it would be waived for $1000 in sales. The compensation was they would waive fees for me up to $1000 or so I thought. During that time it was after hours so I called in the morning. What the lady offered me for compensation was not what the email actually said. Later finding out that this cannot be done! Square was not allowed to do that. The lady on the phone did say she tried to try the card again in the transaction did not go through. Square cannot give me any information on who the customer was. Once the system was back up and running the payment had been declined and the customer had long been gone. During that time in off-line mode I swiped the customers card and the payment went through. Shortly after a few hours came back online. Yesterday June 1,2022 Square went offline. I’ve used merchant services for over 15 years, from start ups to 15 year old businesses and none have required this personal information. It’s been 5 business days and are getting the run around regarding our statements. We had already moved on and still, they hold access over the customer’s head so they can collect and sell your data. When attempting to access our statements for accounting we were denied access until the information requested was given. We closed the square account since they would allow transactions until they decided they wanted 2 years of tax returns and bank statements. Stripe does not have any of these hassles. No other merchant asks for this Information. They will not release funds until such private information is provided. We refused as this would open our company to more restriction and the threat of a bad review retaliation. My previous review was disputed and removed since were were unwilling to provide all our account data to validate. Square is a data collector and will hold your funds hostage People need to recognize that when someone deliberately wastes your time, they are STEALING. The only motivation I can see for this is that Square wants to jack you for an extra 1% on every transaction, because they consider any transaction entered on a computer "manual." Well gee, there's no other option, because your reader doesn't work with your own software, Square. But you can take payments through the Web portal on a computer if you have some kind of mag-stripe reader. In fact, NOTHING on a computer works with the Square readers.

Like the fact that they have a desktop app (only for Mac currently, WTF) that doesn't work with Square's own card readers. Then force it back into "representative" mode.Īfter all that, you'll likely find that your problem is due to something stupid on Square's end. only to be bounced back into the automated mode and have to answer more irrelevant bot questions. If you catch them on their Web site during chat hours, you must force the chat system out of automated mode by typing "contact." After that, you'll wait an unknown amount of time. Do they just push a "choose random, irrelevant response" button? The responses prove that nobody reads the messages. I have been exchanging E-mails with Square about a non-functioning card reader (or associated software) for days, and have yet to receive one that actually addressed the problem I'm reporting.
